Scene 1 Scene 2

This home was built in 1954 by Dallas-based modern architect Gordon Nichols. In 1955 it was part of the Dallas parade of homes which showcased the new California-style modern homes in the area. As a testament to it's lasting appeal, almost 43 years later it was featured in the Spring '98 issue of ECHOES magazine.

The living room is done using mostly cool colors and 50's classic furniture and accessories. The dining room, directly opposite to the living area, has only warm colors and a more 60's look to it. In between these two areas is the den which is decorated in black, white and shades of gray and silver. This room was planned so as to give your eyes a break in between the other colorful areas.

The house has an "L - shaped" layout in which the master bedroom, living room, den and 2 bedrooms overlook the deck area and kidney-shaped swimming pool. It has a typical 50's massive fireplace with built-in indoor grill.

The back walls of the house which face the pool are floor to ceiling glass panes and french doors. The flat, acoustic ceiling is supported by long black wooden beams which run the length of the house.
